These two sparkling stars were shinning at A*Star Dinner & Dance held at Meritus Mandarin last Friday.

Kim Jong Ill, 23, A*Star scholar

Where did you get your clothes from?

I bought my dress for approx $150 in USA when I'm studying there. The belt was a gift from a friend from USA as well. I borrowed my mother's necklace for this event and I think she bought it in Europe. My shoes are from Kenneth Cole but I cant recall how much I bought them for.

What is your style?

I like simple looking dresses, nothing too complicated and I do prefer them in black. It suits most ocassions! Its fuss-free to match with accessories and shoes as well.

Do you think you're attractive?

YES! I think I'm pretty attractive.

Seek Save Serve, Medic!

The peep into the safety net of LDX lab begins with none other than the trained and competent medical personnel who grace(d) the laboratory. They were the life savior to the SAF fighting fit uniformed forces then, and now, to the researchers combating viruses in loose oversize lab coats. We take a look at what 3 medics from the past, present and future have to share about their experiences.

Then 25: "The SMM followed a stringent and regimental regulations in ensuring that rules are obeyed and disciplines are instilled! I took pride in revealing the achievement I received during my days in the army. Now, I cannot really say the same thing but things have changed and my status and appetites are different now."However, every lesson learnt is applicable in one way or the other, like cell resuscitation. Clear the unwanted waste from flask, pump it 2 Xs with PBS and give 5 Xs compressions to the flask with the palm. Resuscitate the cells with fresh media and observe under miscroscope. 1 life saved! "

Now 25?: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my days serving as a medic. The ever friendly and bright instructors throughly deliver their knowledges to me in ensuring that I'm ready to face the unknown when I graduated from the acedmy. Unfortuantely, I've hardly put to practice what I've learned. Therefore, I've to start from scratch and this is where the outfield exercises drilled me well. Now, I'm ever ready for the challenges ahead from the phony lessons."

25 to be: "Being a instructor who is based in camp and yet able to impart my medical knowledge to the trainees is my passion. Its an accomplishment when I witnessed them passed out as medics thinking they are ready for the world with just the mock scenario and some theories on some scrap papers. Life as an insructor is easy, simply follow the medic's pledge - Seat, Say, Surf. Now that I've served my NS, I've found another place where the medical pledge is put to good use. It clearly help if you're the nephew of someone as well."

Of Mice & Men

Biohazardous* Mutant Mouse on Loose
IMCB Level 5 On Red Alert

Mouse escaped from high security laboratory,
causing alarm and fear among Level5 residents

According to first eye-witness Dr. Wxx, the mouse was first sighted in our lab underneath one of the workstation desks on Monday night. "It's small, grey, long tailed and has these huge mickey mouse ears!" announced a fairly excited Dr. Wxx. Apparently LDX workstation area was comfortable enough for the mouse to camp overnight, as the early bird Mrs Jxxx still managed to catch a glimpse of its infamous long tail on Tuesday morning. And that was its last appearance in ldx lab though RxxxHxx tried using its favourite sweet as a bait. We suspect it had somehow managed to scamper to the neighbouring labs under watchful eyes.
It is also queer that the mouse did not stay put, nor return as no other labs can be so well-equipped with food all year round. We suspected that the commotion was too much for its big ears to bear.

It was unclear how the mouse got its way here. There were a few hypotheses about its origin. One, it somehow escaped and followed its arch enemy-Agent "Hunt" who periodically drowns mice in cold metal cages. Second, it's a runaway from Stairways D where mice are secretly housed and fed by level X people who have a soft spot for poor lab animals. (LDX lab's spread was probably more to its liking). Third, as proposed by Dr Lee-Ang** it was making a desperate attempt to escape from the dissection room. Ironically, Dr Wxx too remained a major accomplice as it is a wonder why she allowed the animal to escape as in her own words "it's moving VERY SLOWLY".

Anyhow, rumour has it that some guy from a lab not too far away managed to caught hold of the mouse on the run. We wonder if he followed the S.O.P provided by senior pest controller Mr B. (For details of the S.O.P please contact Mr B via email). Apparently the little criminal had committed hedious crimes during its great escape. It ransacked a Dr. Vxxx office almost prompting him to make a police er.. no safety report. A Dr Water** was so appalled that he calls for a death penalty on the mus musculus. And maybe a large scale massacre as it was also suspected of inciting a "Mighty Mouse vendetta" The Mickey opps correction again, Mighty mouse is currently held in custody by the all-powerful safety office.

Artist's impression of escaped criminal

*not sure how it is so. Anyway
**names were changed to protect witnesses' identity
PS: this report was made during the un-godly hours (for work) while waiting for the most dreaded 12hr time point so pardon the mistakes. Nonetheless the reporter is proud to proclaim that this is still on par with the recent "high standards" set up by our very own Straits Times

AUNTIE KILLER Vs AGENT NEPHEW

Recently, we found out that "Auntie Killer" is more suitable for Mr. Liu than "Agent Nephew" as some of our paparazzi members witnessed his charm on the BioPolis shuttle bus. Picutres were taken and will be uploaded soon. The main actress looked very calm when she realised she was within the range of our camera. However, the hero here was trying to shield himself from the lens. Personally, I think he should act gracefully as a 20-year-old adult.
